Schedule: Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday Rotational (Part Time - 2x12s) + 2 On Call shifts per 4 weeks.

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI)
  • Two years acute hospital experience as an RN
  • One year ED hospital experience as an RN

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, prioritizing urgent or emergent care, providing direct care, applying interventions, and evaluating patient progress. The ED RN demonstrates proficiency in invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and interventions suitable for emergency situations. The role emphasizes relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain and safety. The RN assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Connecting with patients and families during triage, assessing initial management, and establishing rapport.
  • Conducting primary and secondary assessments, identifying deviations from norms, and determining interventions.
  • Building trust and cooperation among team members, teaching, delegating, and ensuring infection control.
  • Preparing patients for procedures, making referrals, and providing education tailored to learning styles.
  • Focusing on patient and family-centered care, maintaining communication, and updating care boards.
Skills and Experience
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, NYS RN Licensure required
  • Minimum two years of RN experience, with at least one year in an ER environment
