Job summary

Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Prince George’s County is seeking a reliable Driver to operate the Get Fit Mobile unit, bringing fitness programs and wellness education to local parks and community events. The position is seasonal/part-time with varying hours, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.

You will safely drive the vehicle, load equipment, assist setup, and coordinate with the health & wellness team to ensure smooth program execution.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current/valid Driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience driving large vehicles preferred (semi-trucks, trailers, or box trucks).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and initiative.
• Effective communication via phone, text, and email.
• Capable of lifting 30+ pounds and assisting with equipment setup.
• Seasonal/part-time role with variable hours and evenings/weekends.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

A wellness-on-wheels initiative that brings fitness programs, wellness education, and fun to local parks, playgrounds, and community events across Prince George’s County. The position is part‑time, with varying hours a week, with some evenings, weekends and holidays required.

Examples of Important Duties

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a current/valid Driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience driving, Semi‑Trucks, trailers, or other large vehicles preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through phone, text, and email.
• Comfortable driving a large van or box truck‑style vehicle.
• Ability to lift 30+ pounds and assist with equipment setup.
• Punctual, dependable, and proactive.
• Experience working with community or recreation programs is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

This is a Seasonal/part‑time position; no benefits are offered.

Must successfully pass a complete background investigation prior to hire.

Limited Benefits For Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans

You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12‑month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
