Job summary

Sweetwater Care in Hiawatha, Kansas seeks a compassionate Speech Therapist to provide comprehensive speech, language, and swallowing therapy to residents in a skilled nursing setting.

You will evaluate, treat and document progress, develop goals with physicians, and collaborate with families and staff to enhance communication and swallowing safety. A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and active state licensure are required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Current state licensure in the state practicing.
  • Experience in long term care or skilled nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of quality patient care, including evaluation and treatment, treatment planning, goal setting, family education and documentation.
  • Provide professional treatment for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, oral motor, swallowing and cognitive disorders.
  • Plan activities and provide therapeutic services for speech and language disorders.
  • Serve as patient advocate and participate in quality assurance and customer service activities.
  • Perform patient evaluations and develop treatment plans with short- and long-term goals.
  • Carry out care plans and determine progression within established care plan.
