Job summary

Emerald Care Center Midwest in Midwest City, OK seeks a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders in a geriatric resident population. The SLP will work within the Rehab department under the Director of Rehab to provide comprehensive care.

The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, licensure in Oklahoma, and a commitment to improving residents’ quality of life in a skilled nursing setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Oklahoma.
• CCC-SLP from ASHA preferred.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
• Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication and swallowing functions.
• Adapt treatment techniques to meet the needs and goals of each resident.
• Maintain accurate records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
• Prepare detailed reports and communicate with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, occupational and physical therapists in care planning.
• Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
• Stay current with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
