Job summary

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current, valid license from North Carolina Board of Nursing; provide license renewal proof every other year.
• CPR certified yearly.
• Ability to supervise nursing assistants and ensure tasks are completed appropriately and timely.
• Commitment to infection control and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assure quality nursing care for patients by following physician orders, state and federal regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
• Administer all medications (oral, sublingual, IM, or IV) as ordered by M.D. and according to facility policies.
• Lead, guide, and supervise nursing assistants and orderlies.
• Assist physicians with rounds as needed.
• Drape, remain with, and care for patients during MD rounds, physical examinations, and treatments as necessary.
• Perform treatments scheduled during shift and document appropriately; maintain infection control measures.
• Adhere to all regulations pertaining to cleanliness, infection control, and standard/universal precautions.
• Assist with research related to the quality of nursing care, as assigned.
• Assist with records, orders, and assessment of new admissions in unit/hall; schedule patients’ annual physicals with attending physician and ensure timely completion of physicals and documentation.
