Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health's Wyman 2 Geriatric Psychiatry unit in Cambridge, MA is hiring a Registered Nurse for a 40-hour day shift. The unit focuses on geriatric psychiatry in a 15-bed locked unit.

The RN will provide direct patient care, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and educate patients and families. A MA RN license and BLS are required; ACLS may be required for some units. Vaccination against influenza is required for staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• 1–3 years related work experience preferred.
• License Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
• American Heart Association – Basic Life support Certificate required. ACLS required for some specific clinical units.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients and makes nursing judgments. Responsible for assessing the health care needs of patients for the formulation of a care plan, its implementation and evaluation.
• Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
• Collaborates with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs and communicates with patients and families; acts as patient advocate.
• Education is planned and provided according to care plan and discharge needs; involves family members and documents outcomes.
• Maintains annual mandatory education and participates in quality improvement activities.
