• Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an approved/accredited school of medicine.
• Certification: CA Physician & Surgeon License, DEA registration, ABIM Geriatrics, CPR.
• Experience: 1–2 years' experience as a practicing Geriatric physician in California preferred.

Responsibilities

• Render professional services to patients under the supervision of the Medical Director.

Pay Range: $300,000.00 to $322,400.00 Annually, Depends on Experience (DOE)

Summary

As part of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare providers under the leadership of the Medical Director, the Geriatric physician works to achieve the organizational goals of La Maestra Community Health Centers through the delivery of primary care services at a patient-centered medical home. As a primary care provider, you will play a crucial role in improving the lives of older adults. The staff physician works in a collaborative effort across all departments to remove barriers to accessing healthcare. The staff physician must incorporate health center policies (including quality assurance) into their clinical practice to provide quality care commensurate with training and licensure. The position involves supervising and teaching our Family Medicine Residency Program learners through geriatrics service, providing bedside teaching, and performance evaluations. The position also oversees clinical support staff (i.e., Advanced Practice Providers, Nursing staff, and Medical Assistants). It handles operational issues on the clinical floor to ensure continuity of services and a smooth patient flow. Delivers care appropriately for an outpatient, primary care community health center with a multicultural, multilingual patient population.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of the Department Medical Director, render professional services to patients and perform related work.
• Abides by all LMCHC clinical policies to provide quality medical care to all patients in accordance with training and licensure.
• Acts as primary consultant on all geriatric cases referred by other staff providers, in person or via telephone.
• Ensure that our senior patients receive the highest standard of medical care.
• Provide preventive care, manage chronic and age-related conditions, and address acute issues in a timely manner.
• Examines and prescribes treatment for Clinic patients; assists in activities for the detection and control of communicable diseases; consults with private physicians on diagnoses involving diseases; interprets laboratory data; renders professional services in school health, birth control, maternal and child health, venereal diseases, immunization and TB finding programs, keeps records and prepares reports as required.
• Participates in the planning and implementation of new clinical programs as needed. Also, works with new technologies for the improvement of patient services and clinic operations.

Job Requirements

Education: Medical Degree from an approved/accredited school of medicine (MD or DO).

Certification required: Current valid CA Physician & Surgeon License. Current valid DEA registration. Board certified by the American Board of Internal medicine (ABIM) in Geriatric medicine is required. Current valid CPR certification

Experience: 1-2 years' experience as a practicing Geriatric physician in the State of California preferred

Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Bilingual preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Accurate keyboarding skills.

Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams. Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.
