Job summary

The Palmettos of Garden City is seeking a Dietary Aid to join our team and assist with patient meals, tray setup, and dining room sanitation. You will work under the Dietary Department and support cooks in preparing therapeutic and modified diets as needed.

Candidates should have a strong interest in foodservice, good communication skills, and the ability to follow directions. The role emphasizes teamwork, punctuality, and adherence to safety and sanitation policies within a long‑term care

Qualifications

• Interest in foodservice and geriatric healthcare.
• Willingness to learn food prep and basic cooking.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
• Understanding of sanitation procedures and safe chemical use.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to read labels and understand MSDS where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation and portioning for patient diets.
• Set up and serve trays, ensure diet accuracy and preferences.
• Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils and dining areas.
• Assist dietary staff and communicate with patients and families.
• Attend in-service and training sessions as required.
