Job summary

Banner University Medical Center - South Campus in Tucson, AZ seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist (BHT) for the Geriatric Psych Unit. You will provide direct nursing-style care to elderly psychiatric patients, assist with daily living activities, and collaborate with RNs and the multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity setting.

The role requires a behavioral health-related bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma with 1 year of direct inpatient care.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health related field or equivalent with direct patient care experience on inpatient behavioral health units.
Experience in inpatient psychiatric facilities or similar settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to psychiatric patients under supervision of a registered nurse.
Assist with activities of daily living and monitor patient safety and behavior.
Maintain patient records, document observations and interventions in medical records.
Participate in admission, discharge and transfer processes and ensure proper documentation.
Support on-unit operations, communicate with Charge RN and other staff.
Assist in crisis de-escalation and apply non-violent interventions as needed.
