Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join the Geriatric Psych Unit at Banner University Medical Center South in Tucson. You will provide direct psychiatric patient care under supervision, support daily living activities, and help maintain a therapeutic environment while coordinating with RNs and other clinicians.

Minimum qualifications include a behavioral health-related bachelor’s degree (or a high school diploma with 1 year of direct patient care) and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health related field or High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• BLS certification is also required; employees may need Arizona fingerprint clearance cards as specified by Banner Health.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to psychiatric patients under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, orderly and therapeutic environment and protects patient rights.
• Assesses and interacts therapeutically with patients and families; promotes dignity, independence and privacy.
• Maintains knowledge of symptoms and treatments relevant to behavioral disorders and medications.
• Assists in admission, discharge and transfer processes and completes required documentation.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral health field

High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year direct patient care
