Job summary

Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Director of Activities in planning and delivering quality activities for patients. This role focuses on recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs within Life Care standards.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred geriatrics experience, and a demonstrated ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate quality activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education).
• Chart patient progress and behavior in a descriptive manner.
• Escort patients to and from activities and visit patients in-room as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in evacuation of patients and maintain dependable attendance.
• Collaborate effectively on an interdisciplinary team; follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
