Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geothermal Energy Technician to join our client in George, Western Cape. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and troubleshooting geothermal heating and cooling systems at client sites, with some office time for planning and reporting.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform performance testing, read blueprints, and guide clients on operation and maintenance. A hybrid work model is offered with opportunities for specialized geothermal training.

Qualifications

• HVAC or mechanical engineering qualification or certification required.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems in a technical role.
• Familiarity with geothermal technology and its components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints and manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites within George area.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain geothermal heating and cooling systems at client sites, following safety protocols and specs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with geothermal equipment to minimize downtime.
• Conduct performance testing and data logging for geothermal systems to identify optimization opportunities.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients on operation and maintenance of geothermal systems.
• Maintain records of service calls, maintenance activities and equipment performance data.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Geothermal Energy Technician to join their team in George . In this role, you will be instrumental in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of geothermal energy systems, ensuring optimal performance and client satisfaction. You will work both on-site at various locations within the Western Cape and in our office for reporting and planning. This position requires a hands‑on approach, a strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions within the region. You will collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality geothermal installations and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain geothermal heating and cooling systems at client sites, adhering to safety protocols and technical specifications.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues related to geothermal equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Conduct performance testing and data logging for geothermal systems to identify areas for optimization.

Requirements
