Job Description

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Engineer I for our Virginia Beach, VA office.

This Opportunity

Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  1. Planning, estimating, and conducting subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs in soil and rock.
  2. Interacting with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  3. Performing geotechnical analyses and design of tunnels, shallow and deep foundations, embankments/cuts, pavements, and earth retaining systems for transit, transportation, buildings, and water projects.
  4. Preparing geotechnical memoranda, data and design reports.
  5. Preparing design drawings and specifications.
  6. Providing geotechnical support during construction.
  7. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  8. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  1. 1 to 3 years of Geotechnical experience.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical Engineering focus.
  3. Engineer-In-Training Certification.
  4. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  5. Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  6. Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  7. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
