Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to perform design and analysis of foundations for bridges, roadway embankments, and highway structures under supervision. You will prepare geotechnical reports, review consultant submissions, conduct soil testing requests, and contribute to liquefaction analyses and bid-item calculations for highway projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management is required.
At least 1 year of engineering or construction management work experience.
Valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

Responsibilities

Perform mid-level geotechnical engineering work including design and analysis of foundations for bridges, roadway embankments and highway structures.
Prepare geotechnical reports and review consultant reports regarding geotechnical considerations.
Prepare soil borings and lab-testing requests for soil analysis; perform advanced design and analysis of bridge foundations and slopes.
Develop design response curves and perform preliminary liquefaction analysis; evaluate geotechnical submittals and compute geotechnical bid items.
