Job summary

Caltrans seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Division of Engineering Services, Geotechnical Services. Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer you will support geotechnical design reviews, develop standards, and create design tools for state projects.

You will work across planning, design, construction and operation phases of the State Transportation System, traveling to districts and job sites as needed for multi-day assignments.

Qualifications

Experience performing quality review and providing technical support to geotechnical design offices.
Ability to develop and update geotechnical design standards and guidelines.
Experience developing geotechnical design and analysis tools.
Willingness to travel to districts and job sites for periods of days to weeks.

Responsibilities

Perform quality review and provide technical support to Geotechnical Design offices.
Develop and update geotechnical design related standards, and guidelines for the Geotechnical Manual.
Develop geotechnical design and analysis tools.
Perform geotechnical investigation and engineering for projects.
Work on projects across planning, design, construction, and operation phases; travel may be required.
