Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Aberdeen, MD seeks a geotechnical professional to support report preparation, analysis, and recommendations with senior staff.

You will manage CMT projects, review daily reports, train field staff, and assist in budgeting and proposals for geotechnical and CMT work, with opportunities for growth and licensure progress.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or a similar field.
• No prior experience required for this role.
• A professional license is not required for this position but progression may require it in future.
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.

• Assist with geotechnical reports, including analyses and recommendations with senior staff.
• Manage construction materials testing projects with daily report review and field staff training.
• Manage project budgets and prepare invoices for geotechnical and CMT projects.
• Support boring layouts, drilling packages, site access, and utility clearances.
• Supervise field crews and assist with rig access and in-situ testing.
• Assist with proposal preparation for geotechnical and CMT projects for training.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Primarily involved with tasks supporting the preparation of geotechnical reports, including analysis and recommendations formulated in collaboration with senior staff


• Manage construction materials testing (CMT) projects with daily report review, assist with resolution of issues, and training of field staff on your projects


• Manage project budgets on both geotechnical and CMT projects and prepare invoices


• Other duties may include assisting with or performing the following with supervision:
  
  
  
  • Perform boring and test pit layouts and evaluate site access
  
  
  • Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances
  
  
  • Perform research on local geologic history
  
  
  • Supervise field work performed by drilling/test pit crews and assist with rig access issues
  
  
  • Perform in-situ testing
  
  
  • May perform specialized geotechnical field testing
  
  
  • Classify soil and assign laboratory testing
  
  
  • Assist with preparation of proposals for both geotechnical and CMT projects for training and developmental purposes
  
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required

• A professional license is not required in this position but is necessary to progress in your career.


• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required.

The expected pay range for this role and location is $70,000 - $80,000/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
