A leading multi-disciplined engineering firm is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join its growing team in Ashland, VA. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and inspections on various public and private projects.

Responsibilities

• Observe test borings and test pits in the field
• Perform lab analysis and prepare geotechnical reports and calculations
• Review field staff reports and manage field operations as needed
• Conduct on-site construction materials testing
• Coordinate with project teams and clients to support timely deliverables
• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with specifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• E.I.T. certification preferred; working toward P.E. is a plus
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
• Ability to lift and move 60-80 lbs. of testing equipment and samples
• Some evening, weekend, and overnight travel may be required
• Familiarity with engineering/construction drawings and specifications
• Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoSystems, GINT, L-Pile, MSEW) is a plus
• Prior experience with field testing or subsurface exploration is preferred
