Job summary

A consulting firm in Canton, MI is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer/Manager to lead projects in geotechnical engineering. Responsibilities include overseeing investigations, managing project teams, and ensuring compliance with design specifications. A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 10-15 years of experience in the field are required. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills and be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively. This role involves both office and outdoor work, with some travel required.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Have passed the principles of engineering (PE) exam or able to obtain within 1 year.
  • Experience with MDOT, ODOT, or other transportation/local agencies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for geotechnical tasks.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute field investigations.
  • Act as project manager for multi-discipline projects.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses for foundation designs.
  • Design foundations and other geotechnical structures.
