Job summary

S&ME, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for geotechnical and construction materials, based in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC. You will lead geotechnical and construction projects from subsurface exploration through field support, serving as a technical resource for energy clients.

The role emphasizes field presence, project leadership, and collaboration with clients, contractors, and team members to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient solutions. PE/PG licensed or eligible preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience on geotechnical, geostructural, and/or construction projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Geologist (PG) license or the ability to obtain one.
• Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical, construction, and special inspection project planning and execution.
• Evaluate field/lab data to analyze foundations, slope stability, and settlement; provide site-specific recommendations.
• Perform regular site visits and QA to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.
• Prepare reports, proposals, and field documentation while mentoring junior staff.
