Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to support projects across Columbia, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia. The role combines engineering analysis, project management support, and client collaboration in a growing geotechnical team.

You will evaluate subsurface conditions, interpret data, and develop practical solutions for a variety of commercial and public projects. A PE license or ability to obtain within six months is required, with opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or a related engineering field.
• 4+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably with some project management responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical projects from initial investigation through final design recommendations and project completion.
• Coordinate field investigations, laboratory testing, and reporting to meet project objectives and schedules.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, analyses, calculations, and design recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, laboratories, subcontractors, and clients to resolve technical issues.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff while promoting safety, quality and professional growth.
