Job summary

Schnabel, an employee-owned engineering and consulting firm, seeks a Project Geotechnical Engineer for our Greensboro, NC office. The role focuses on geotechnical and interdisciplinary dam projects, requiring strong communication, team collaboration, and leadership

Responsibilities include field investigations, analyses, report generation, client coordination, and staff supervision. A PE license or comity eligibility, ABET-accredited degree, and 4+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or eligibility by comity (NCEES).
• 4+ years of consulting geotechnical experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS for geotechnical deliverables.
• Experience with geotechnical software: GeoStudio, Gint/OpenGround, Shoring Suite, STAAD Pro, LPILE, SHAFT, Settle3D, Leapfrog, RocScience, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Manage, execute, and provide technical support on geotechnical and interdisciplinary dam projects.
• Plan and manage geotechnical/geologic field investigations and review boring logs.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, drawings, specs, and presentations.
• Communicate with clients and regulators; coordinate resources to meet timelines and budgets.
• Supervise and mentor geotechnical staff; contribute to a positive Greensboro culture.
