Job summary

RK&K seeks a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our King of Prussia team. Responsibilities include supervising field investigations, developing geotechnical and pavement designs, and preparing plans, reports, and cost estimates across PA projects. Strong PennDOT experience and PE preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of Geotechnical Design Experience, PennDOT experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; PE preferred in PA.
  • Hands-on field operations and reports/written recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist geotechnical/pavement design and engineering group across Pennsylvania with development and delivery of assignments.
  • Assist with client relations to secure future workload and clients.
  • Develop innovative design concepts to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.
  • Serve as Project Engineer on geotechnical projects and prepare design calculations and reports.
  • Develop subsurface exploration programs and participate in construction documents and cost estimates.

Job description

We are looking to add a Geotechnical Project Engineer to our King of Prussia team. Join us in supporting diverse transportation, transit, and environmental projects such as highway and rail bridges, buildings, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, ground treatment of soft soils and subgrades, and utilities. Ideal candidates possess PennDOT and Pennsylvania municipal experience, proactive problem-solving skills, a solid grasp of geotechnical principles, and hands‑on expertise in geotechnical/pavement design and field operations. You'll collaborate across disciplines, helping to prepare plans and reports for various geotechnical and pavement projects, supervising field investigations, performing design computations, and writing reports and offering recommendations. Essential Functions
  • Assist our geotechnical/pavement design and engineering group throughout Pennsylvania with development and delivery of geotechnical assignments
  • Assist with client relations to secure future clients and workload
  • Foster innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering to enhance project efficiency
  • Serve as Project Engineer on a variety of geotechnical related projects
  • Prepare task proposals
  • Develop and oversee subsurface exploration programs
  • Prepare design calculations and geotechnical engineering reports
  • Aid in producing construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and firm
Required Skills and Experience
  • Passion for client service and engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of Geotechnical Design Experience (PennDOT experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of PennDOT Geotechnical and Pavement MOI's and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification
  • Understanding of the following software: Microsoft Office, gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, Slide, Settle 3, Slope/w, AASHTOWare Pavement ME, GRLWEAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • MS or advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer License is preferred, Pennsylvania preferred, ability to obtain PA PE required within 6-months
