Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Summer Engineering Intern to support the Energy and Resources business center within the Hydro and Dams geotechnical group. You will assist in proposals, scheduling, cost estimates, and project administration while gaining exposure to CAD, Python, GIS, and GeoStudio.

You will learn to review field data, assist in laboratory analyses, and help prepare technical documents and reports under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and enrollment in an accredited engineering program.
• Completion of at least 3 years of undergraduate coursework towards pursuing a degree in geological engineering, geology, civil engineering (non-structural, geotechnical track preferred), or similar.
• Post-graduate academic experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing proposals, including project scheduling, and developing cost estimates.
• Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports.
• Performing simple calculations, computer data entry, along with some exposure to CAD, Python, GIS, and GeoStudio.
• Assist in writing technical documents such as calculation packages, geotechnical data reports, design reports, and specifications.
• Support field investigations and the assessment of subsurface conditions by reviewing drilling and test pit logs, in-situ testing data, and other pertinent field documentation.
• Support geotechnical material characterization and interpretation of material properties for design and analysis using laboratory and field data.
• Performing research and contacting vendors for information.
• Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines
