Job summary

Terracon in Austin, TX is seeking a Geotechnical Field Tech to perform observations and documentation of exploration activities, collect samples, and support project teams on site.

Under supervision you will learn and take on increasing responsibilities, maintain equipment, follow safety standards, and prepare daily reports for Project Manager. Strong communication and MS Office skills are preferred; valid driver’s license and OSHA 10 required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience preferred, but not required.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Obtain 10-Hour OSHA certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze soil, rock, and earth materials to determine variations.
• Assist on tasks under supervision and perform basic testing and documentation.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicate information to Project Manager for submittal.
• Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by staff professionals.
• Maintain assigned equipment and follow safety rules on all projects.
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation and logging.
