Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a geotechnical field technician to operate and maintain pressure meter testing equipment, lay out borings, and perform field and lab tests in Raleigh, NC. The role includes observing test pits, performing hang auger borings, and participating in seismic and PDA testing, with a preference for a civil engineering degree and up to 2 years' experience.

Ideal candidates will have strong physical stamina for lifting 40–70 lbs repeatedly, familiarity with GPS

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; BS in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university preferred.
0-2 years of experience.
Ability to carry 40-70 lbs multiple times a day or lift up to 85 lbs as needed.
Experience with soil testing, sampling and laboratory testing.
Familiarity with pressure meter testing equipment, drilling operations and GPS-based surveying.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain pressure meter testing equipment.
Lay out borings and test pits using conventional surveying and GPS.
Observe and classify test pits; perform hang auger borings.
Participate in site seismic testing and PDA testing.
Classify samples from drilling operations; perform routine field and laboratory tests.
