Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is seeking an entry-level geotechnical field technician in College Park, GA. You will assist with fieldwork, sampling, and drilling operations, while coordinating with supervisors and support staff to ensure smooth site access and safety.

You will gain hands-on experience in boring, logging, and field data collection, while pursuing Civil Engineering studies. This role emphasizes outdoor work, teamwork, and adherence to certifications and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Must complete basic certifications within required periods (Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I).
• Driver's license required if driving for ECS.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Willingness to work outdoors and in field conditions.
• Able to follow directions and work under close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists with geotechnical fieldwork and subsurface exploration activities.
• Supports scheduling and coordination of drilling operations.
• Assists with obtaining utility clearances and evaluating site access.
• Supports preparation of drilling instructions and field plans.
• Performs boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS equipment.
• Observes soil samples and test pits.
• Supports boring logs and location diagrams.
• Performs hand auger borings to obtain soil samples and subsurface information.
• Assists with site seismic testing and field investigations.
• Observes foundation construction and ground improvement activities.
• Assists with laboratory testing activities as needed.
• Documents field observations and data collection.
• Performs other field or project support tasks.
