Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a detail‑oriented civil engineering student to support geotechnical field and lab activities in a fast‑paced environment. You will assist with boring and logging, analyze soils, prepare diagrams, and help deliver project reports under supervision.

Candidates must be actively pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in outdoor field and laboratory settings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0 years of related experience required.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days; all basic certifications within 270 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist geotechnical fieldwork and subsurface exploration.
• Support obtaining utility clearances and prepare drilling instructions.
• Perform boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS.
• Observe and classify soils and test pits.
• Prepare boring logs and location diagrams under supervision.
• Conduct hand auger borings to obtain samples and data.
• Assist with specialized testing (pile driving analyzer, seismic tests).
• Observe foundation construction and ground improvement activities.
• Support basic foundation analysis and engineering recommendations.
• Assist with laboratory testing of soils and concrete materials.
• Interpret test data and help prepare reports or summaries.
• Maintain field and laboratory equipment and work areas.
• Document field and lab observations accurately.
• Perform other project support tasks as assigned.
