Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is seeking a geotechnical field technician intern to support field exploration, soil testing, and data collection. This role involves working under supervision on various subsurface projects in the geotechnical sector.

You will assist with scheduling drilling, obtaining utility clearances, documenting observations, and learning boring layouts, GPS mapping, and basic testing techniques.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Must have completed an internship with ECS or another firm.
• Basic geotechnical knowledge and field testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical fieldwork and support subsurface exploration.
• Assist with scheduling drilling operations and field coordination.
• Obtain utility clearances for subsurface investigations.
• Prepare drilling instructions and field plans.
• Perform boring and test pit layout using surveying and GPS.
• Observe and classify soils and test pits, and log borings.
• Support data collection, logging, and reporting of observations.
• Assist with specialized testing and seismic field work as needed.
• Work in outdoor environments under varying site conditions.
