NV5, Inc. seeks a highly motivated Senior to Associate Geotechnical Engineer, PE, GE for a leadership role in Irvine/Torrance, CA.

The position covers conventional geotechnical work, construction materials testing, and advanced hillside design, seismic analyses, and forensic geotechnical projects. Responsibilities include directing project assignments, reviewing senior proposals, and mentoring staff, with opportunities to lead business development.

Position Summary

NV5, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Senior to Associate Geotechnical Engineer, PE, GE for a leadership position in our Irvine and Torrance, CA offices. We provide consulting engineering services which include, conventional geotechnical services and construction materials testing services, as well as, advanced geotechnical engineering for hillside design, retaining structures, bridges, seismic analyses, and forensic geotechnical engineering. Our client base is in both the commercial and public sectors.

Responsibilities

• Direct and execute geotechnical project assignments, including engineering analysis and report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory services.
• Provide senior-level review of proposals and reports, and ensure that commitments to clients are met.
• Direct and develop proposals and presentations and assist in business development activities.
• Supervise geotechnical staff and technicians.
• Actively participate in professional and technical organizations.

Requirements

Education/Qualifications:

• Candidates must have experience with public works and transportation projects.
• Must have experience with geotechnical design and calculations for permanent and temporary support systems for excavation and building foundations.
• Seismic risk analysis and soil structure interaction analysis abilities.
• Senior level is based on experience.
• A qualified candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant geotechnical senior-level engineering experience.
• Possess an advanced degree in geotechnical engineering, have experience in processing foundation reports, and experience as a project manager.
• A California PE is required. California GE or the ability to quickly obtain GE is required.
• Experience with software, including gINT, LPile, SlopeW, MathCAD, and CAD is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

• P.E. (G.E. Preferred)

The pay range for this California position is $150,000- $180,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate.
