Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to manage geotechnical aspects of projects, perform analyses, and provide recommendations during construction.

The ideal candidate has 11–15 years of geotechnical design experience, PE certification, and a strong background in subsurface exploration and design-build projects. This role involves client interaction and on-site fieldwork as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer Certification required.
  • 11–15 years of geotechnical design experience.
  • Field experience in site grading, slope stabilization, retaining walls and foundations is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and delivering quality geotechnical services on-time and within budget.
  • Preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plan details, and designs for projects.
  • Serving as a technical resource on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Managing subsurface exploration programs.
  • Preparing cost estimates, determining scope of work, and preparing proposals.
  • Coordinating design effort for completeness and accuracy.
  • Using design software to develop engineering recommendations.
  • Collaborating with construction personnel on constructability and cost implications.
  • Working on-site for client projects or in office as needed.
  • Involvement in project scoping, fee estimating, and interview processes.
  • Performing design calculations and investigations to support contract documents (plans, specs, estimates).

We are currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer capable of managing geotechnical aspects of projects, performing geotechnical analyses, providing geotechnical and foundation recommendations, and providing geotechnical recommendations during construction.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing and delivering quality geotechnical services on-time and within budget
  • Preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plan details, and designs for projects
  • Serving as a technical resource on a team with multiple disciplines
  • Preparing and managing subsurface exploration programs
  • Preparing cost estimates, determining scope of work, and preparing proposals
  • Coordinating and ensuring completeness and accuracy of design effort
  • Using design software to prepare engineering recommendations
  • Participation in Design/Build efforts including consulting with contractor/construction personnel about constructability and cost as recommendations relate to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities
  • Work on-site for client or in a project office when needed
  • Participates in project scoping and fee estimating, proposal preparation and interviews
  • Perform design calculations and conduct investigations towards design recommendations and development of contract documents (plans, specifications, and estimates)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor\'s degree specializing in Geotechnical Engineering, Master’s degree specializing preferred
  • Must have 11-15 years of experience in geotechnical design
  • Experience with static and dynamic load testing, highly desired
  • Field experience relating to site grading, slope stabilization, retaining wall and foundation construction, highly desired
  • Professional Engineer Certification required
  • Design Build experience preferred

The expected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 - $215,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
