Our Anchorage staff consists of over 20 geotechnical and environmental engineers, scientists, and geotechnical, environmental and administrative support staff. You will join a cohesive and fun team with a diversity of experience and backgrounds, and fill an important role within our office and firm. Your geotechnical projects will take you to locations throughout Anchorage and surrounding areas, as well as travel to remote Alaskan locations, building Alaska’s infrastructure and communities. You will support civil engineers, structural engineers, and A/E design teams investigating geotechnical conditions to support design of new construction projects for a variety of public and private clients. Typical projects in the Anchorage office range from designing foundations for new buildings, bridges and waterfront structures, to investigating pavements on Alaskan roads, airport runways, new roads in undeveloped land, working alongside our environmental staff for soil testing and remediation projects, and more. You will encounter a wide variety of soil and bedrock, seismic environments, and permafrost conditions, working in both urban and rural settings.
Level Placement: Depending on education, experience, other qualifications, cultural fit and current business needs, a Mid‑Level Geotechnical Engineer would typically be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Senior Professional I, II, or III level.
