Job summary

Jacobs in Bellevue, Washington is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a team of professionals supporting civil infrastructure projects. You will work from concept through construction on design-bid-build and design-build projects, performing field work, analyses, and design tasks with a focus on safety and quality.

The role requires 2–5 years of geotechnical experience, a BS in Civil Engineering and an MS/PhD with geotechnical emphasis.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required; an MS/PhD with geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• Strong foundation in soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles.
• Experience with geotechnical software and field investigations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in field assignments: soils/rocks borings, CPT soundings, geophysical testing, instrumentation installation.
• Analyze field logs and lab data to support geotechnical design decisions.
• Design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, embankments, and cut slopes.
• Perform seismic hazard analyses, including site-response studies and liquefaction evaluations.
• Prepare calculation packages and technical documentation (memos, reports, specifications).
• Use Settle3D, Slide, LPILE, DeepXcav, FLAC, PLAXIS, and MathCAD for engineering analysis.
• Review construction submittals for compliance with design assumptions and contract requirements.
