Job summary

Terracon is seeking a geotechnical engineer in Auburn, AL to perform field investigations, calculations, and report writing. You will assist in cost estimates, develop scopes of work, and ensure safety and quality across projects for public works, transportation, and industrial clients.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 1–3 years of experience, and an EIT/EI certification is required. A valid driver's license may be needed to access sites and laboratories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 1–3 years’ experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• EIT or EI required.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and participate in pre-task planning.
• Demonstrate quality practices and acumen.
• Provide consistent quality standards on proposals and project delivery.
• Manage and execute small geotechnical projects of minimal complexity.
• Assist in developing scope of work for routine projects.
• Assist in cost estimates, specifications, and related documents.
• Analyze data and perform engineering calculations for PE review.
• Coordinate field investigations and laboratory testing.
• Develop plans, schedules, and coordinates project work.
• Work with senior project manager and PE of record to gain experience.
• Provide design recommendations for review by the PE of record.
• Prepare work scope, proposals and investigation plans for approvals.
• May supervise field staff and technicians.
