Job summary

Technical Solutions Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer for a Pittsburgh-area role with our client, a local engineering consultant. The successful candidate will support investigations, perform analyses, and contribute to construction drawings and reports.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, 2–3 years of experience, and proficiency with geotechnical software. Field work and travel are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Competence in geotechnical analysis software such as SLIDE, SETTLE3, RSPIile, LPILE, SEEP/W.
• Ability to move up to 60 pounds.
• A valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities.
• Strong analytical and technical communication skills.
• Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term/long-term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support geotechnical investigation programs including planning, permitting, subcontractor coordination, implementation, field data collection, and oversight, data reporting.
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design calculations for foundations, soil/rock slope stability, settlements, temporary excavation support systems, retaining walls etc.
• Perform geologic and seismic hazard evaluations.
• Write technical reports and other documents explaining the rationale for pertinent analyses, designs, and recommendations.
• Assist with the preparation of construction drawings, and specifications for geotechnical infrastructure.
• Work as integral member of the engineering team on complex, multi-discipline projects.
