Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the United States. You will perform geotechnical computer modeling, manage soil and rock investigations, and oversee on-site and laboratory testing, instrumentation installation, and monitoring.

This role supports project planning, prepares plans and reports, and contributes to designs for shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, seepage, bearing capacity, earth retention, and dam engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness and ability to regularly travel.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software: Geostudio, LPile, APile, gINT or BoreDM, FLAC.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering and Design business unit by performing geotechnical computer modeling, soil and rock investigations, on-site and in-laboratory material testing, and instrumentation installation.
  • Provide continuous on-site support for construction observation, subsurface investigations, in-situ testing, instrumentation installation, surveying, materials testing, and facility inspections.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects; ensure milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
  • Prepare project plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Complete design related to shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, seepage, bearing capacity, settlement, earth retention, and dams.

Job description

  • support the Engineering and Design business unit, completing geotechnical engineering projects by performing geotechnical computer modeling, specifying and interpreting soil and rock investigations (including drilling and cone penetrometer testing), overseeing on-site and in-laboratory material testing, and installing instrumentation
  • provide continuous on-site support for construction observation, subsurface investigations, in-situ testing, instrumentation installation, surveying, materials testing, and facility inspections
  • assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients
  • prepare project plans and specifications, reports, and cost estimates
  • complete design related to shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, seepage, bearing capacity, settlement, earth retention, and dams
Requirements
  • bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis, with coursework or research related to mine tailings and tailings storage facilities, dam engineering, or advanced soil mechanics
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Willingness and ability to regularly travel
  • geotechnical software programs, including Geostudio, LPile, APile, gINT or BoreDM, or FLAC
  • possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
