Qualifications

CTL Engineering is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer (EIT or PE)!

We provide civil/site design, land surveying, environmental services, geotechnical investigations, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer (EIT or PE) to perform geotechnical explorations and investigations. You will leverage your expertise and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating with municipal agencies, architects, engineers, developers, and project teams to deliver geotechnical studies, reports, and solutions from initial concept to final execution, guiding projects through every stage of land profile evaluation.

Highlights:

  • Interesting projects in infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and unique engineering, primarily focused on DOT-related (roadway) and airport/runway projects.
  • Projects are usually within a 60-90 mile radius of the office, with minimal travel and rare overnight stays. A company vehicle or reimbursement for personal vehicle use can be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, and risk evaluations.
  • Supervise lab technicians, maintain quality reviews, manage equipment, and assist with client marketing and proposals.
  • Work independently on broad projects with oversight from the Department Manager.
  • Provide project direction, including preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports and interact with clients on technical aspects.
  • Review laboratory test results and assist in planning subsurface investigations, including utility clearance and test boring locations.
  • Design earth embankments, retaining structures, and anchoring systems.
  • Conduct analysis and design of foundations and slope stability evaluations.
  • Monitor quality control standards and project specifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read design drawings.
  • Ability to meet project schedules.
  • Experience with geotechnical software or ability to learn quickly.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, and quality-focused.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of consulting engineering experience on civil projects, ideally 4-7 years.
  • E.I./E.I.T. credentialing required; PE licensure is a strong plus.

Education:

  • BSc in Civil Engineering; a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel and maneuver on open terrain.
