Jacobs in Reston, VA seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to join our established team. You will conduct field explorations, analyze foundations, and develop geotechnical reports in a collaborative environment.

The role requires travel, strong communication, and CAD/Microsoft Office proficiency. The base salary ranges from $85,000 to $125,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, 401(k), and stock purchase options.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• Multiple years of geotechnical project experience.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel for work.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills including CADD and Microsoft Office.

Responsabilidades

• Perform and oversee geotechnical field explorations (test borings, rock coring, test pits, CPT, hand augers).
• Perform construction monitoring of earth retaining structures and foundations.
• Prepare boring logs and subsurface profiles; design shallow/deep foundations and earth-retaining structures.
• Perform liquefaction and consolidation settlement analyses; PLAXIS/FLAC FEM modeling.
• Develop geotechnical reports and pavement design; prepare contract documents and drawings.

Your impact

Our Reston, VA office is looking for a Geotechnical engineer to join our established team. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to - Perform and oversee geotechnical field explorations, including test borings, rock coring, test pits, cone penetration testing, hand augers, and other methods

• Perform construction monitoring of earth retaining structures, deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles), and shallow foundations
• Prepare boring logs and subsurface profiles
• Design of shallow and deep foundations and earth-retaining structures
• Perform liquefaction and consolidation settlement analyses
• Perform Finite Element modeling using PLAXIS and or FLAC
• Develop geotechnical reports.
• Perform Pavement Design and develop Pavement Reports
• Design Ground Improvement including deep soil mixing, rigid inclusions, chemical
• Develop Contract documents including drawings and specifications
• Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams from across North America
• Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable, and meet all assigned project deadlines
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.

Here’s what you’ll need

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $125,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
