Job summary

HDR is seeking a Geotechnical EIT/Designer to join our Transportation Business Group in Virginia. You will perform slope stability, settlement analyses, assist in cost estimates, and support junior staff on projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, an EIT or the ability to obtain it, and proficiency with MS Office. Local candidates preferred; employee-owners value collaboration and excellence.

Qualifications

  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Experience with MS Office and software applications.
  • Active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct slope stability, settlement and seepage analysis and conduct geotechnical engineering studies on routine and moderately sized projects.
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or the ability to obtain. Candidates hired without their EIT will be expected to obtain in 6 months for career progression
  • Local candidates preferred
