Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking a Geotechnical Driller to support foundation investigations statewide. You will operate the Geotechnical Explorations Drilling Rig and Cone Penetrometer Truck, set up and dismantle gear, and drive to job sites.

Responsibilities include sampling, maintaining equipment, and supporting field testing for DOTD projects. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and basic experience with heavy equipment and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience in sub‑professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operates the Geotechnical Explorations Drilling Rig and Cone Penetrometer Truck (LECOPS).
• Sets up and dismantles drill rig and ECPT truck; Sets up and dismantles Traffic Control Devices.
• Drives Drill Rig, ECPT truck, tank truck, or utility truck to and from job sites.
• Extrudes samples from Shelby tubing, assembling and breaking down split-spoon drive barrels, and cleaning samplers for future use.
• Maintains the department's Geotechnical Exploration equipment and vehicles.
