Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Wilmington, NC is seeking a field drilling assistant to perform standard penetrometer testing operations, locate borings in the field, record drilling data, and contribute to daily field paperwork. You will support drill rigs and vehicles, maintain equipment, and follow safety guidelines on all projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and up to 3 years of experience; willingness to travel and work non-standard schedules may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• 0–3 years of experience in related field or entry-level position.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard penetrometer testing operations including borings and geoprobes.
• Locate borings in the field.
• Record required drilling data.
• Report project-related issues to the project manager and/or supervisor.
• Perform drill rig and support truck maintenance; report repair and maintenance issues to the drilling supervisor.
• Follow company safety procedures and guidelines for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew personnel.
• Safely and accurately load drill rig and support vehicle each day with supplies; complete time sheets and field paperwork.
• Care for and clean assigned company vehicles and drilling equipment and other assigned equipment.
• Maintain professional behavior and quality standards.
• Be willing to work out of town and on non-standard work schedules when required.
• Other duties as assigned.
