Job summary

Braun Intertec Corporation seeks a geotechnical drilling assistant to join our Bloomington, MN office. You will support the Crew Chief in drilling operations, collect and organize field samples, and maintain equipment while adhering to safety practices.

Preferred candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving, and communication skills, with willingness to travel up to 50% and work outdoors in all weather. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions in English.

Job description

Braun Intertec is seeking a geotechnical drilling assistant to join our Bloomington, MN, office.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Crew Chief in all aspects of drilling operation, while gaining the experience necessary to work with minimal direction
• Assists in the collection of field samples and data.
• Returns field samples and data, organized and completed to the Project Manager.
• Responsible for maintaining tooling, equipment, and vehicles.
• Assists the Crew Chief with trouble shooting mechanical problems and perform the required repairs.
• Use required and approved personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing all functions.
• Responsible for promoting, communicating, and adhering to safe work practices.
• Responsible for completing all required paperwork and training in a timely manner.
• Operate Vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.
• Maintain necessary compliance documentation relating to the operation of commercial motor vehicles

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Prior geotechnical drilling experience is preferred, but not required
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and supervisors, while fostering a collaborative and engaging work environment
• strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Ability to problem solve and work in a dynamic work environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Dependable, the ability to maintain reliable attendance and work a full-time schedule which sometimes includes weekend and night work
• Must be available for travel up to 50%, occasionally on short notice
• Ability to work outdoors, in a field / construction work setting, in all types of weather conditions and terrain
• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, 75lbs occasionally
• A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
• The ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days is preferred
• Ability to pass a driving / road test
• Ability to pass a pre employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle record check #LI-PD1
