Job summary

SOCOTEC US in Tampa, FL seeks a Geotechnical Drill Rig Operator to perform geotechnical test borings and supervise a drill rig crew. You will maintain equipment, record field data and classify soils, ensuring quality and safety in field operations.

The role requires at least 2 years of drilling experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in any weather. CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years geotechnical drilling experience required.
• Clean driving record required.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all climates.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds multiple times per day.
• Willingness to arrive at work early and work late when necessary.
• Reliable transportation to/from work.

Responsibilities

• Operate drilling equipment such as mud rotary wash (SPT) and auger drill rigs.
• Train and direct drillers' helpers.
• Drive drill rigs and support vehicles (CDL not required but a plus).
• Identify utility locate markings and plan boring locations.
• Assist with clearing operations for geotechnical investigations.
• Maintain and repair drilling equipment and logs.
• Record field data and classify soils in the field.
