Job summary

SOCOTEC, a niche consulting firm serving architecture, engineering, and construction, seeks a Geotechnical Drill Rig Operator in Orlando, FL for a full-time, on-site role. Duties include performing geotechnical test borings, supervising a drill rig crew, and maintaining equipment. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Hourly pay ranges from $26.00 to $36.00, commensurate with experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years geotechnical drilling experience required.
• Clean Driving Record (Required).
• Must be able to work outdoors in all climates.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds multiple times per day.
• Willingness to arrive at work early and on-time, and work late when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate drilling equipment such as mud rotary wash (SPT) and auger drill rigs.
• Train and direct drillers helper(s).
• Drive drill rig(s) and support vehicles in a safe and professional manner (CDL not required but a plus).
• Understand utility locate markings and field locating of geotechnical boring locations.
• Assist with clearing operations for geotechnical investigations.
• Perform maintenance and repair of drilling equipment and vehicles.
• Keep accurate field records and logs.
• Classify soils in field and prepare boring logs.
