Job summary

Intertek in Houston, Texas seeks a Geotechnical Driller to join the Professional Services Industries team. This role performs soil drilling, rock coring, sampling, and in-situ testing to support site investigations and project requirements.

You will operate drilling equipment, supervise drillers, coordinate schedules, and maintain records. Travel up to 50% and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ geotechnical drilling experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Travel up to 50%.
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights.
• CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate subsurface conditions, classify soils and rocks.
• Operate drilling equipment at shallow to moderate depths for site investigations.
• Responsible for drill rig transportation.
• Train and direct Driller Assistants and coordinate daily schedules at the job site.
• Direct site inquiries from the general public to the project team.
• Prepare tooling and supplies for daily tasks; load/unload/assemble/disassemble augers; troubleshoot drilling challenges.
• Retrieve and log samples and maintain drilling records.
• Clean and maintain equipment and perform site cleanup.
