Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP is seeking an entry-level geotechnical field technician to support staff on geotechnical projects in Louisiana. You will assist with field tasks, document site observations for CMT and geotechnical work, and perform tasks with limited supervision.

Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil or Geotechnical fields is required; no experience needed. A driving license is required if driving for ECS; licensure is not required now but may be pursued to advance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required.
• No experience required; driving license required if driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with field tasks on geotechnical projects.
• Document site observations for CMT and geotechnical field work.
• Assist with boring/test pit layouts, drilling packages, and utility clearances.
• Supervise field crews and manage rig access; perform in-situ testing and soil classification.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Primarily involved with assisting staff with field tasks supporting geotechnical projects
• Responsibilities include clearly documenting site observations for both construction materials testing (CMT) and geotechnical field work performed
• Other duties may include assisting with or performing the following with limited supervision:
  • Perform boring and test pit layouts
  • Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances
  • Perform research on local geologic history
  • Assist with supervision of field work performed by drilling/test pit crews and assist with rig access issues.
  • Perform in-situ testing
  • Classify soils
  • Keep project staff informed of changing site conditions and/or additional testing requested on project sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required
• No experience required
• Professional license is not required in this position but is necessary to progress in career
• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
