Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a geotechnical field support technician with an academic background in civil or geological engineering. You will assist with field tasks for geotechnical projects, document site observations for CMT and field work, and help with boring/test pit layouts and drilling packages.

No prior experience is required; a driving license is needed if operating for ECS affiliates. This is a ground-level role with growth potential in geotechnical consulting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required.
• No experience required; professional license not required to progress.
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Primarily involved with assisting staff with field tasks supporting geotechnical projects.
• Responsibilities include clearly documenting site observations for CMT and geotechnical field work.
• Perform boring and test pit layouts; prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances.
• Perform in-situ testing and keep project staff informed of changing site conditions.
• Assist with supervision of field work and rig access issues; conduct soil classification.

• Other duties may include assisting with or performing the following with limited supervision:


• Perform boring and test pit layouts


• Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances


• Perform research on local geologic history


• Assist with supervision of field work performed by drilling/test pit crews and assist with rig access issues.


• Perform in-situ testing


• Keep project staff informed of changing site conditions and/or additional testing requested on project sites
