Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a geotechnical engineer in Charlotte, NC to support the preparation of geotechnical reports and supervision of field activities. You will manage CMT projects, review daily reports, and assist with issue resolution while training field staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required.
• 2+ years of related experience.
• A professional license is not required in this position but is necessary to progress in your career.
• If driving for ECS subsidiaries, a valid driver’s license is required.
• The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education and licenses requirements: E-5.

Responsibilities

• Support geotechnical report preparation with analysis and recommendations.
• Manage CMT projects with daily report review and issue resolution.
• Prepare geotechnical and CMT proposals and manage project budgets.
• Prepare change orders and invoices.
• Supervise field crews and assist with rig access issues.
• Perform in-situ testing and drill/test pit activities.
• Classify soil and assign laboratory testing.
• Support junior staff in their development.
• Conduct drilling packages and obtain utility clearances.

Education

Civil/Geological Engineering degree (B.S./M.S.)

Job description

• Primarily involved with tasks supporting the preparation of geotechnical reports, including analysis and recommendations
• Manage construction materials testing (CMT) projects with daily report review, assist with resolution of issues, and training of field staff on your projects
• Prepare both geotechnical and CMT proposals, manage project budgets, and prepare change orders and invoices
• Other duties may include assisting with or performing the following with supervision:
• Perform boring and test pit layouts and evaluate site access
• Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances
• Perform research on local geologic history
• Supervise field work performed by drilling/test pit crews and assist with rig access issues
• Perform in-situ testing
• Classify soil and assign laboratory testing
• Support junior staff in their development
• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required
• 2+ year of related experience
