Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants in Midland, Texas is seeking an Environmental Remediation Engineer or Geologist with oil and gas sector experience to grow our contaminated site assessment and remediation services locally. The role involves leading investigations, designing remedies, and coordinating permitting and construction while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or environmental/civil/chemical engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of direct environmental consulting experience (7+ preferred).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for environmental remediation and vapor intrusion.
  • Willingness to travel including field work and overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation and remediation projects including budgeting, scheduling, and client satisfaction.
  • Perform contaminated site assessments and remedy evaluation and design.
  • Prepare remediation action plans, reports, and technical specifications.
  • Mentor junior staff and manage subcontractors.
  • Coordinate meetings with clients, regulators, and project teams.
  • Support business development and attend industry conferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Performing and managing contaminated site assessments, remedy evaluation, including preparing investigation work plans, feasibility studies, removal action work plans, remedy design, and remedy implementation.
  • Performing and managing site assessment fieldwork, pilot and bench-scale programs for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater technologies.
  • Preparing remediation action plans for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater remediation projects including drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors.
  • Manage work to meet contract schedules, appropriate codes and regulations, regulatory compliance and/or enforcement and industry standard-of-care criteria.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology or engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain within one year. (i.e., P.G. or P.E.). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years (7+ years preferred)of direct environmental consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation and vapor intrusion. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Knowledge of Texas geology. (preferred)
  • Previous project experience in the Oil and Gas sector. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
