Job summary

EWI Recruitment is seeking an experienced Geostructural Superintendent to oversee geotechnical, structural and temporary works activities on major civil projects. You will ensure safe, efficient site operations aligned with designs, specifications and schedules.

Working with project managers, engineers and subcontractors, you will lead across excavation, ground improvement, foundations and associated works, monitor progress, and resolve technical and logistical issues.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience supervising geotechnical or structural works on complex civil engineering, commercial construction, tunnelling or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of ground conditions, temporary works, construction sequencing and risk management.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, manage subcontractors and make sound decisions in a fast-paced site environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate geostructural construction activities, including piling, shoring, excavation support, underpinning and foundation installation.
• Review drawings, specifications, method statements and inspection and test plans before work begins.
• Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings with site teams and subcontractors.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, productivity and compliance with approved designs and quality requirements.
• Work with engineering teams to identify design clashes, site constraints and constructability improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, inspections, technical queries, variations and non-conformances.
• Support programme planning, resource allocation and short-term look-ahead schedules.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure all works comply with relevant legislation and site procedures.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, handover documentation and close-out activities.

Geostructural Superintendent

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Geostructural Superintendent to oversee geotechnical, structural and temporary works activities on a major construction or infrastructure project. This role will be responsible for ensuring that site operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, programmes and quality standards.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and specialist consultants, you will provide strong site leadership across excavation, earth retention, foundations, ground improvement, structural concrete and associated works. You will monitor progress, resolve technical and logistical issues, and ensure that construction activities are properly coordinated with wider project requirements.

About you

You will have substantial experience supervising geotechnical or structural works on complex civil engineering, commercial construction, tunnelling or infrastructure projects. A strong understanding of ground conditions, temporary works, construction sequencing and risk management is essential. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, managing subcontractors and making sound decisions in a fast-paced site environment.

A relevant qualification in civil engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering or construction management is desirable. Recognised health and safety training, temporary works experience and a relevant site management certification will be advantageous. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, together with a practical, collaborative approach to delivering high-quality results.
