Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Software Engineer III to design, implement, and maintain cross‑platform applications using C++, C#, Java, and Python. You will integrate AI features and collaborate with CI/CD pipelines to deliver robust software across Linux, Windows, desktop, and cloud environments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience, Top Secret clearance eligibility, and strong OO design fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
• Expertise in object-oriented design principles and modern software engineering practices, including CI, TDD, and scalable systems design.
• Experience developing software for both Linux and Windows, plus networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• Experience creating installers for Windows (MSI, InstallShield, WiX) and Linux (DEB/RPM).
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jira, Git, and scripting in Linux/Windows.
• Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, SaaS architectures (AWS/Azure), and cloud deployment strategies.
• Experience maintaining infrastructure with Ansible or similar tools.
• Ability to lead and mentor software engineering teams.
• Educational background or work in ML, image analysis, FMV, or GIS is a plus.
• Track record of delivering complex projects on time in high-stakes environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using C#, C++, Java, and Python.
• Integrate AI technology into product capabilities.
• Collaborate with software engineering and test teams to ensure integration and performance across systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot applications across environments including vehicles, desktops, and cloud.
• Define, review, and execute system requirements, architecture, and roadmaps with stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical sections of proposals to support sales.
• Support project planning and monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance.
• Mentor and collaborate with small software development teams.
